COMMISSIONS

It’s easy to commission your own pet portrait! Here’s a step-by-step guide to what we’ll work on together.

Step 1: Get in touch with me once you’ve decided what you’d like and in what size. You can contact me via email at tillyfallowsart@gmail.com , via my art social media pages (Facebook, Instagram) or the contact form on my website. Of course, if you have any questions, or would like any advice on what would make a good portrait feel free to ask and I’m always more than happy to help!

Step 2: With this, send me a selection of photos. If you have one particular photo you’d love me to draw, then great! But the more photos I receive the better as I can really get a feel for your pet’s personality. There is more advice on the types of photo which would work really well below. Please note that the better the photo quality is, the better the picture I will be able to produce will be. Please also note that I do not offer portraits incorporating people.

Step 3: Once I’ve confirmed what you would like, I’ll need a 25% non-refundable deposit. This is to cover the cost of materials for your project. I’ll send you this as a secure paypal (card) transaction link.

Step 4: I’ll get painting! Please note my current turnaround time is around 3 months, however I’ll give you an estimate when you’re placing your order. Please book as early as possible for Christmas orders to avoid disappointment.

Step 5: Once your picture is complete, the rest of the balance is due and I’ll post the picture to your chosen address for you to enjoy once received! Please note that the piece will not be framed, but I'm always happy to advise on framing where I can.

If you would like to gift a portrait, get in touch to learn how portraits can be gifted as a gift voucher.

Please note that the price does not include postage which will be calculated at the point of sale.

Please note that I reserve the right to update my prices on this site at any time. (This will not affect your individual quote for a piece!)

Photoshop Revisions

Sometimes it's hard to get two pets sitting still together, maybe your photo is a memorial portrait or perhaps your pet is wearing that bright sparkly collar you wish they weren't for their portrait!

Not to worry, I offer one simple free photoshop revision of  your photo to correct lighting, background objects or situate two (or more) subjects together to create the perfect reference photo for a finished portrait piece.

For more complex photoshop revisions I charge an additional £10 fee per complex revision. I'd be happy to consult with you on what would constitute a complex revision before we go ahead with it if needed.

Photo guide

Photos which work best are:

  • Without flash, in natural lighting.

  • Taken from the animal's eye level

  • Of good quality, not pixelated and with plenty of detail visible.

  • Phone camera photos are completely fine - I mostly work with these! However please ensure you keep the above points in mind when selecting your photos.

The better the photo quality, the better the quality of the resemblance I will be able to produce.

Photo examples

The second photo of Barley would make a much better portrait, as the first picture is of very poor quality, is a 'top down' shot and is not as well lit.

The light in the first photo of Pickle is coming from behind her, and so her body is mostly in shadow. In the second photo the light is coming from behind the photographer and is lighting her face well. There is a good level of detail in this photo for a portrait.

Size Gallery

Open the photos in the size gallery below for examples of work at different sizes. You can see more in my portfolio here. Pastel is a lovely, rich medium to work with and the bigger the image, the more space I have to work with and the more detail I can add into images.
